Dr Roy Bichan - Chairman

Roy Bichan is currently Chairman of the North Wales Economic Forum and Vice Chairman of Governors at Llandrillo College, the largest Further Education College in Wales. He is also a non-executive director of two venture capital partnership companies in Cardiff . He is an Honorary Fellow of the University of Glyndwr and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 1989 shortly after completing his Presidency of the Institution of Mining and Metallurgy. Born and brought up in the Orkney Islands before going to Aberdeen University where he graduated with a First Class Honours in Geology in 1964, he then went on to complete a PhD and Research Fellowship at the University of Leeds, working in Zimbabwe and the Gulf of Aden. Roy joined the Robertson Group in North Wales in 1968 and played a major role in this company’s rapid expansion as a worldwide service company to oil, gas and mineral exploration and production as well as services to the environment. He was one of the senior team members in securing a full listing for the Group’s shares on the London Stock Exchange in 1984. He left Robertson’s from the position of Chairman and Chief Executive after the business was taken over in 1991. Since then he has twice been Chairman of the CBI in North Wales, Chairman of CBI Wales, Deputy Chairman of the Welsh Development Agency and Chairman of the Welsh Industrial Development Advisory Board as well as a non-executive director of a number of companies. Roy joined the board of Beer & Partners and was appointed Chairman in January 2010. |
Mike Weaver - Chief Executive

As a consultant in the oil & gas sector, Mike has worked around the globe advising international PLCs on their business finance, growth and operational strategies. Already recognised as a leading expert in his field Michael went on to become a specialist in Venture Capital for this sector in the 1990's. In the late 1990’s he began to focus on early stage companies, advising entrepreneurs on business plans, business finance and starting a business. Mike joined Beer & Partners in 2004 as an Associate in the Thames Valley Region. He quickly became one of the firm's top performers, combining his knowledge of capital investment with Beer’s investor database and successfully arranging funding for business opportunities . After three years, Michael became Chief Executive in 2007. |
Brian Mattingley - Non-Executive Director
| A company director with over 20 year's experience, latterly specialising in the Gaming and Leisure sector and is currently Vice Chairman of 888 Holdings PLC. Brian's previous experience includes retail and insurance. As Group Finance and Strategy Director of Gala Group Plc, Brian was responsible for the acquisition of several Bingo and Casino chains and launched the Gala Interactive Online business. In 2003 Brian was appointed Chief Executive of Gala Regional Developments Ltd, a new joint venture company owned by Gala and Harrahs Entertainment Inc formed to develop and operate large style casinos. Joining the Board of Beer & Partners in 2008 Brian brings a unique insight into developing businesses and managing both mergers and acquisitions. Brian is an active member of the team who continues to make a significant contribution to the firm's development. |
Joseph Tager - Non-Executive Director

Joseph Tager spent four years in the Business Restructuring arm of PwC, working in their London and New York offices. With ambitions to work in the food industry, he left PwC in August 2007 to work alongside the Managing Directors of The Bread Factory (London’s leading artisan bakery) to assist with the company’s business development. Highlights included the planning and successful integration of The Flour Station (Jamie Oliver Enterprise’s bakery)into the Bread Factory’s structure.
Since September 2010, Joe has been working with Luke Johnson, looking after his personal investments and appraising potential new investments. In addition to Beer & Partners, Joe also sits on the boards of Feng Sushi and Flour Power City. |

Email: meyer@beerandpartners.com Former Head of a specialist creative division of Cap Gemini focussing on multi-channel user experience, with particular focus on digital channels, Zena joined Beer & Partners in 2003 as an associate before quickly becoming Regional Director for London. She is now responsible for a range of new initiatives being launched by the Company including wider market facing strategy and rolling out new initiatives for business growth and expansion. Entrepreneurial, with a strong focus on strategic direction she is an experienced Director with a track record of delivering business growth and has particular strengths in online/ digital media and financial services. Zena is also Chairman and Board director of Kazzum children's theatre company-creators of playful theatre and participative arts for young people, using art forms that reflect international influences. |

Liyah’s strong customer service, administration skills and work ethic has been recognised by Beer & Partners, and she joined the team in August 2011 as the Head Office Administrator. Her functions are to ensure that the office runs a little smoother by being the first port of call for most enquiries – from colleagues, suppliers, fund seekers and prospective investors. |
Simon Webber - Compliance Manager

In March 2007, he became the firm's Compliance Officer and, being located in Manchester, is the only member of the central team based outside our City offices. Simon has advised several investment funds on compliance and serves on the Boards of a Non-Executive Director placement agency, a 4,500 square foot business incubator, and a start up investment house. He has a BA and BSc, both with honours, and a Masters from Manchester University. He was a founding member of a regional committee for the Institute of Directors and is a Trustee of Manchester's largest charitable grant-maker, giving over £5m a year to community projects around the city. |
