David Beer, our late founder, established Beer & Partners in 1991 because he saw that traditional Venture Capital markets were failing smaller companies. Not only that, the City advisors were charging large fees right at the time when their clients could least afford them. David Beer set about changing the model by bringing specialist expertise to unlisted companies. Beer & Partners became the first serious player in the hidden Business Angel market. The firm is now run by a Board of Directors headed by Mike Weaver as Chief Executive. For more information on any of the firm’s Directors, please click here.
Beer & Partners is still the only firm of any size that has closed the “equity gap”, between family capital and the institutions: a gap which has now grown to cover the £75,000 and £5 million range.
We have achieved this by listening to what our clients and our investors really want and finding a cost-effective way of providing it. We are not just a database, we know our more active investors well, we know what they are looking for and what they want to avoid. Importantly we know what skills and contacts they bring. That is why we are good at what we do.
Raising capital is hard work, and so is investing it. So we provide a wide range of services for clients, including:
